David Hoskins’ extensive experience in the mental health treatment and addiction recovery fields led him to found Sanctuary Clinics in April of 2022.
Serving as both a HELPLINE Case Manager and CEO of The Lighthouse Network (founded in 2003, Lighthouse Network is a leading Christian mental health and addiction HELPLINE)
As Director of Rehabilitative Services for Oasis Detox and Rehabilitation Services, David developed a unique vision for a different kind of treatment experience—one that was truly Christ-centered, bringing together the power of God and the very latest in evidence-based medical and mental health interventions and therapies, and treating patients holistically, mind, body and spirit.
With these aims in mind, in 2015 he founded Honey Lake Clinic, which grew in just its first few years to be recognized as the #1 Christian mental health treatment program in America. As Honey Lake Clinic’s CEO, David encountered the discouraging reality that few insurance plans include mental health treatment, and those that do are based upon an antiquated substance abuse model, inconsistent with the most up-to-date DSM definitions of mental health conditions and symptoms. Additionally, insurance companies are paying less and less—deductibles are rising, and coverage limits are shrinking—to the point that insured patients are paying more than if they’d have paid out-of-pocket and getting far less care.

In April 2022, Sanctuary Clinics was born of a fresh approach. David’s Story
Although David grew up in a Christian home and studied to become a missionary, by the age of 25, he’d become a prodigal son.
For the next sixteen years, he woke up each morning with a promise that “whatever this body feels like doing for the next 24 hours, that is what I’m going to do.” His life devolved into a hopeless downward spiral of sex addiction and substance abuse. It was not until his late 30s that David renewed his faith in Christ.
“It has been an 18-year journey that brought me to this point today. The hallmark of a disciple is not being perfect or doing everything right, but it is the one who always returns to Christ. Peter said, ‘Where else do we have to go?’”
When David speaks or writes about Christian behavioral health, it is from the context of having lived it, personally.
