An Answer To Prayer

Great news! Madison County approved our plan for a 60-bed Sanctuary on our property at Honey Lake. And not a moment too soon . . .

A recent study published by Lancet Psychiatry found high-cannabis-potency products are associated with a greater risk of psychosis and addiction called cannabis use disorder (CUD). What does this mean? Let me break it down for you—

THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects. Cannabis products with THC levels of 10% or greater are considered high potency. The pot being smoked when we were kids had THC levels of 2-3%. The average THC content of marijuana today is 14-16%. Many cannabis strains or varieties today rise to 30%. And it doesn’t stop there. The marijuana industry has found ways to maximize THC levels in vaping formulas, edibles and waxes, some containing 100% THC.

This isn’t the weed of the 1970s! Or the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s, for that matter. THIS IS A NEW AND REAL THREAT! We are just now starting to realize the impact … and all signs are pointing to a marijuana catastrophe in America which will dwarf the heroin epidemic.

Sanctuary Clinics

At Sanctuary Clinics, our vision is to meet this challenge head on. In addition to our ongoing work with those overcoming depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other behavioral health struggles, we want to be prepared to meet the coming challenge that potent and more available THC presents.

Our property on Honey Lake, a beautiful, serene, 14-acre lakeside tract, is the perfect location for young men (18-39) who are struggling to break the bonds of marijuana to encounter Jesus Christ. Here, they can experience the full range of Sanctuary’s treatment, in a truly supportive environment. Here they can find a fresh start and renewed hope.

Timing is of the essence.

We are just now learning what THC does to the brain, especially the developing brain. Let me be frank:
We’re awakening to a generation of young adults who are bound; living in their parents’ basement, smoking pot all day, watching porn and playing video games.

The old narrative was “Just Say No!” But with THC levels like this, it’s not that simple. Kids aren’t just getting high; they’re shipwrecking their lives. It’s already making its way into the media—there is a tsunami of substance-induced psychosis in young adults hitting our emergency rooms.

Sanctuary Clinic has the expertise, both medical and clinical, to work with these young men who’ve ended up in the ER with psychotic disorders. We have experience helping those who are struggling by applying a holistic approach, healing mind, body, and spirit. We are realizing that as we bring people into the loving, healing, and fulfilling presence of Jesus they are finding freedom in Christ! They’re realizing for themselves, the promise of Jeremiah 29:11—

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Hope and a future—this is God’s heart for these young men. Not bondage to pot, Doritos, video games, and porn.

And this is why I’m writing. We have estimated the cost of getting up and running. We need $22K for the well, $26K for the septic system, and $42K to run the electric. We need $90K to start helping young men in need. I believe the Lord already has all the provision we need in place through the compassion and generosity of friends like you.

Make no mistake about it: pot is profitable for the government. Presently, 37 states have approved the medical use of marijuana. 19 states and Washington, D.C., have legalized recreational marijuana use. States like Massachusetts, Colorado, and California, where cannabis is legal, are benefiting from state and local taxes on marijuana sales by the billions. Do you see where this is going?

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., recently introduced the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act aiming to legalize cannabis on a federal level and establish a federal cannabis tax.

There is no time to waste. We must be ready to tackle this problem head on. The answer is found in ministering into this pressing need and discipling young people into a living, growing relationship with Jesus Christ!

Brayden is a recent Sanctuary graduate. His testimony is powerful because he speaks as one who has been through all that we’re talking about in this letter. It’s not a hypothetical for him—he’s been there … and back.

“I’ve battled with addiction. I’ve battled with sex and porn. The community I’m surrounded with at Sanctuary, the people, the support, it’s been amazing. The leadership here has a very clear mission: they set a tone of ‘practicing the presence of God.’ That’s the difference maker. Being at Sanctuary totally transformed my life.”

Listen for yourself. Here’s a link to Brayden’s testimonial video.

Your compassionate and generous support RIGHT NOW will help us get Sanctuary Clinic at Honey Lake open and welcoming to patients. You will have a hand in helping young men like Braydon find freedom from marijuana, discovering life, hope, and renewed purpose in Christ.

THANK YOU for standing with us—and with the next generation—in giving as generously as you can to help stem this rising tide.

Practising the presence of Jesus, in every present moment,

Sanctuary Clinics
