How Does Treatment for Depression Work?
Traditional approaches to treating depression and anxiety focus on medication and therapy. While medication and clinical therapies play a role in treating mind and body, depression and anxiety impact all three areas of our being, mind, body, and spirit. Treatment at Sanctuary Clinics involves all three components, medication, therapy, and a spiritual community.

While medication and clinical therapies play a role in treating mind and body, depression and anxiety impact all three areas of our being, mind, body, and spirit. Medication, such as antidepressants and benzodiazepines may be prescribed and monitored for their effectiveness in treating and reducing your specific symptoms. We also work with our patients on implementing and monitoring other medicinal protocols as necessary.
Therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) can help patients begin to understand, identify, and change harmful or ineffective thinking and behavior patterns, replacing them with more accurate thoughts and functional behaviors.
At Sanctuary Clinics, we employ the latest in neuroscience research, technology and evidence-based treatment modalities and therapies including neurofeedback, micro-neurofeedback, EMDR, TMS, Fisher Wallace, Ketamine, and more in caring for each patient’s specific needs.
A Spiritual Community is perhaps the most important element in treating Depression. Sanctuary Clinic is an authentic Christian community specializing in mental health treatment. Many of our doctors, therapists, and clinicians reside here on campus, living and sharing life together with our patients, offering an around-the-clock loving and supportive environment where healing happens.
Community is vitally important in getting to the underlying issues fueling or exacerbating symptoms. In a loving and supportive community, we take off the masks, becoming our authentic selves where we can experience the deep transformational healing we need. Love and affirmation get to the heart of the issues.

8
We are the most subsidized Christian Behavioral Health program in America, with foundations and donors providing millions of dollars, covering nearly 2/3 of the program’s costs, making the program accessible and affordable for all.
The compassion and generosity of a large group of Christian donors—caring people who see the tremendous need for affordable Christian behavioral health and addiction treatment—allows us to keep our costs low and offer Sanctuary patients scholarships and assistance.
