The Sanctuary Difference
Why OCD Families Choose Sanctuary
When Nothing Else Has Worked
Why OCD Families Choose Sanctuary When Nothing Else Has Worked
01
OCD-Specialized Treatment Team
We Specialize in Complex, Treatment-Resistant OCD
Our team uses evidence-based Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy — the gold standard for OCD — delivered intensively in a residential environment where they can’t escape back into rituals.
Unlike outpatient ERP attempted once a week, our immersive program means daily ERP sessions with 24/7 support to resist compulsions. We treat all subtypes: contamination fears, harm obsessions, religious scrupulosity, relationship OCD, sensorimotor obsessions, and more.
For families: We educate you about OCD so you can stop accommodating compulsions and start supporting recovery.

02
We Work With Families, Not Just Patients
You’re Part of the Healing — We Support You Through This
OCD doesn’t just affect the person who has it — it controls the whole family. That’s why we involve families throughout the entire journey:
- Family specialists who understand OCD dynamics
- Regular updates on you sved one’s progress
- Family therapy sessions and OCD education
- Learning how to respond when they seek reassurance
- Support for your own anxiety and exhaustion
- Post-discharge family coaching and crisis support
You’ve been held hostage by their OCD too. We’ll help free your whole family.
03
Religious Scrupulosity Expertise
Christian Clinicians Who Understand Scrupulosity & Moral Obsessions
Many Christians with OCD suffer from religious scrupulosity — obsessive fears about sin, salvation, blasphemy, or offending God. Secular therapists often don’t understand faith. Church leaders often mistake OCD for spiritual problems.
Our Christian psychiatrists and therapists understand both. We know the difference between genuine conviction and OCD’s lies. We help patients distinguish true faith from pathological doubt — without dismissing either.
They’re not demon-possessed. They’re not unforgiven. They have OCD — and we know how to treat it.

04
Intensive Residential Environment
Immersive 30–90 Day Programs Where Real Change Happens
OCD thrives in normal environments with all its triggers and escape routes. Outpatient therapy asks patients to resist compulsions while living in the same place where OCD controls everything.
Our residential program removes them from triggering environments and places them in therapeutic community 24/7. When the urge to ritualize hits at 2am, staff are here. When exposure exercises get intense, they’re surrounded by support — not left alone to spiral.
This also gives YOU relief. While they’re learning new patterns, your family gets a break from the constant crisis.
05
Neuroscience & Advanced Treatments
Brain Mapping and Cutting-Edge OCD Interventions
We use advanced neuroscience to understand exactly what’s happening in the brain. Brain mapping shows the hyperactive neural pathways driving obsessions and compulsions, helping us target treatment with precision.
- rTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) for treatment-resistant OCD
- Neurofeedback to retrain overactive brain patterns
- Advanced medication management with augmentation strategies
- EMDR for underlying trauma that may fuel OCD

06
Healing Community, Not Isolation
Our Staff Live on Campus — They’re Never Alone in This Fight
OCD isolates. It convinces them they’re the only one with these terrible thoughts. It makes them hide in shame and secrecy.
At Sanctuary, they’ll live in community with others fighting similar battles. Our doctors, therapists, and staff live on campus — eating meals together, walking trails together, processing struggles together. This is the Acts 2 model: authentic Christian community that heals.
Community breaks OCD’s power of shame and secrecy.

Understanding OCD
Common OCD Subtypes We Treat
OCD is not about being neat. It’s a neurobiological disorder affecting specific
brain circuits and it’s highly treatable with the right interventions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your Questions, Answered Honestly
What if my intrusive thoughts are too disturbing to talk about?
We’ve heard it all. Violent thoughts, sexual thoughts, blasphemous thoughts—nothing shocks us. These are symptoms of OCD, not reflections of who you are. Our therapists are trained to help you process the most disturbing obsessions without judgment.
Will you make me stop all my compulsions at once?
No. ERP is graduated and done at a pace you can handle. We start with lower-anxiety exposures and build up. You’re never forced into exposures before you’re ready, but we do encourage you to push beyond your comfort zone with our support.
What if ERP doesn’t work for me like it didn’t work before?
Outpatient ERP often fails because:
- It’s only once a week (not enough intensity)
- You can escape back to rituals at home
- The therapist may not specialize in OCD
- There’s no 24/7 support when urges hit
Our immersive residential program solves all these problems. You can’t escape, you have daily exposures, our staff specialize in OCD, and support is always available.
How do I know this is OCD and not real spiritual conviction?
Our Christian clinicians are trained to distinguish between the two. Real conviction leads to repentance and peace. OCD leads to repetitive confession without peace, obsessive doubt despite reassurance, and compulsions that never satisfy. We’ll help you understand the difference.
Can I bring family for visits?
Yes, family involvement is encouraged. We offer family therapy sessions, education for loved ones, and visiting times. Healing OCD often involves repairing relationships damaged by the disorder.
What if I relapse after I leave?
We equip you with relapse prevention tools and provide ongoing aftercare support. If you struggle after discharge, you can call our crisis line, connect with alumni support, or schedule booster sessions. Recovery isn’t perfect—we walk with you long-term.
Do I have to be Christian to come?
While our program is Christian-based, we welcome all who are open to faith integration. If you have religious scrupulosity or faith is part of your OCD, our approach may be especially helpful. We respect wherever you are spiritually.
