Fresh-Air In, Stress Out!
One prime mental health benefit of golf is that it helps reduce stress. A round of golf can help reduce cortisol (the “stress hormone”) and spur the release of endorphins—the chemicals that help to relieve stress and boost happiness. Spending time outdoors in nature can help you feel calmer and more clear-headed.

Community Building on the Links
Community is a difference maker in healing. While personal resolve and inner strength are important aspects of healing, the support, understanding, and encouragement of being welcomed into a loving community can be the difference between surviving and thriving in the treatment process. In community, people get healthy!
Sanctuary Work and Therapy Program participants have enjoyed great success in different areas of opportunity:
Playing a round of golf with friends or in a group encourages camaraderie, connection, and communication, providing an opportunity to build relationships.
“It’s no coincidence that one of the leading symptoms of mental illness and
addiction is isolation. That’s how the enemy works. Divide and conquer.
There is healing power in community. Research consistently shows that
individuals who feel connected to a supportive community experience
improved mental health outcomes and greater resilience in the
face of adversity.”

“God didn’t call us to just get healthy and sober. He has more in
mind for us. We’re called to live transformation. We experience
the transformative power of the Gospel when it’s embodied,
when its truth becomes incarnate in us.”
