What is a Detox Center?
A Detox Centre is a place where patients can go through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addictions. In order to keep patients safe and provide them with the support they require. Patients are placed under professional care and medical assistance. Professional care at a detox center is planned and carried out with the requirements of the individual in mind.
Detox and withdrawal are known for being very uncomfortable experiences, physically and psychologically. Having medical and mental health professionals assist and oversee your detoxification can be the difference between success and failure.
At Sanctuary Clinics, you’ll have professionals by your side and medicines to help alleviate some of your symptoms, all helping you concentrate on the hard work at hand—your recovery.
What Types of Detox Centers Exist?

Emotional support
Detox centers also provide emotional support through counseling, therapy, and group sessions. These services help people cope with cravings, address underlying issues, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
How Long Does Detox Take?
The length of your detox experience can vary based on many factors.
Typically, symptoms of alcohol use may level off within a week or so, whereas detox from other substances like Benzodiazepines may require a longer timetable, maybe two weeks or longer to experience relief from symptoms.
No matter the time detox takes, while it is an incredibly important step to rid your body of the harmful substances, the more important steps are making long-term changes to ensure you won’t relapse and learning to manage recurring triggers effectively.
It is vitally important to realize that substance use and addiction do not occur in a vacuum. Getting to the root causes and contributors to your substance struggles is imperative to recovery, health and wholeness.
What is the Meaning of a Detox Period?
Detox period refers to the time during which a person’s body eliminates the toxins associated with the substance being abused.
It is characterized by the manifestation of withdrawal symptoms as the body adjusts to the absence of the substance.
The detox period can be challenging, both physically and emotionally, and having professional support in a detox center can greatly assist people in navigating this phase safely.

Detox at Sanctuary Clinics … and YOU
Detox and withdrawal are different for everyone who goes through them. Essentially, there are three stages to the process: Evaluation, Stabilization, and Preparation for entry into treatment. At Sanctuary Clinics, this is what you can expect from your experience:
Evaluation
Prior to being admitted, one of our physicians will perform a bio/psych/social/spiritual evaluation over the telephone or Internet to determine whether you are a good candidate for our program and whether our program can be effective in helping you. In the event a patient cannot participate in such an interview, our physician may conduct the interview with loved ones.
Another purpose for this evaluation before your arrival on campus is to ensure we have all of the necessary medications on hand and accommodations ready for you upon your arrival.
Upon your arrival, you will receive a physical evaluation from one of our physicians to ensure your medical needs are met while you’re on campus.
Stabilization
Once you’ve arrived on campus and been evaluated, you will be admitted into one of our Detox Rooms—a comfortable room where you can be monitored and assisted by medical staff, and seen by your doctor every day, as needed. Prescribed medications may be used in the stabilization process to reduce complications and relieve withdrawal symptoms.
Preparation
Once you are stabilized, your team will begin familiarizing you with the treatment process, giving you a tour of the campus and facilities, getting you settled into your room for the remainder of your treatment, and generally making you feel ‘at home.’ Now begins the hard work of rehabilitation. Our team stands ready to walk this path with you, ensuring you the very best chances of success after detox.
Sanctuary Clinics offer proven holistic treatment for substance use and addiction, encompassing mind, body and spirit, providing you with the long-lasting tools and knowledge you need to break addiction’s grip.
